Obituary of Walter STUCKART

June 14, 1921 – Calgary, Alberta December 16, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta On Wednesday, December 16, 2015 the independent spirit of Walter Stuckart left us at the age of 94 at the Bowcrest Care Centre. Walter was born in Calgary and lived here all his life, except for the four years he spent in the army during WWII. He served his country in Europe with the Royal Canadian Engineers. He worked forty-one years with the CPR as a machinist and was a member of the CP Pensioners Association. Walter exemplified the traits of his era, often called, “The Greatest Generation.” He shared with his contemporaries those common values of “duty, honor, economy, service, love of family and responsibility for one self.” He would agree whole heartedly with their motto “use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.” Walter would have added to this list of traits “be on time.” His sense of what was fair and right stayed with him always. His word was his bond. Loyalty to and time with his family were important to Wally. He and his wife Kay celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on December 27, 2013. A commitment honored. Walter’s dry sense of humor would not miss the fact that a man who was never late in his life, will now be known as the “late” Walter Stuckart. Walter is survived by his loving family, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Jim Sutherland; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Kay; his parents George and Anna Marie Stuckart; three brothers and four sisters. Our gratitude goes to Jennie who could do no wrong in Walter’s eyes. In addition, a special thanks to Mhay, Mina and Rowena (Wally’s angels) and several other extra special care givers who made his last few years so rich and filled with unconditional love!!! Memorial Services will be held at St. John Lutheran Church (204 – 6A Street N.E.) on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through .
