Obituary of Margaret QUINN

May 17, 1923 -Main River, New Brunswick November 20, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Margaret, beloved wife of the late Maurice Quinn passed away on Nov 20, 2018 at the age of 95 years. Born in Main River, NB May 17, 1923 she was the oldest daughter of James and Mary (Targett) Roach. She grew up in Richibucto NB and trained as an RN in Campbellton, NB. Upon completing her nurses training she moved to Alberta and worked at St. Michael’s hospital in Lethbridge, AB where she met her husband Maurice and they married in Milk River, AB on Oct 22, 1947. She resided in Milk River where she was the unofficial “town doctor” and actively involved in the community, she volunteered with the CWL, enjoyed curling and bowling and was known for her cinnamon buns and Christmas dinners. Family and friends were important to Marg, she was a care-giver at heart and anyone who knew her only needed to ask for help and she would be there for you. She moved with her family to Virden, MB in 1970, and finally settled in Killarney, MB in 1973 where she lived, raised her family and worked as the charge nurse at the Killarney Long Care Facility until she retired, at which time she moved back to Alberta to be close to her oldest daughter Judy. As the years went by and her declining mobility forced her to move into higher care facilities her mind and spirit remained strong and she faced each obstacle with strength and dignity until the end. Anyone who had the honour of having Marg in their lives will be forever blessed. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Judy Quinn of Lethbridge AB, Myrna (Brian) Selmon of Winnipeg MB, and Maura (Brad) Myers of Brandon MB; grand-children Melissa (Craig) Ratz, Steven (Kayla), Michael (Chloe), and Daniel Champagne and great grand-children Brooke, Mason, and Ainsley Ratz. She also leaves behind one sister, Myrtle (Bob) Hall of Edgewater FL., one sister-in-law Kathryn Stewart of Kingston ON, and two brothers-in-law Bill (Margaret-Ann) Quinn of Calgary AB, and Harry Quinn of Edmonton AB, plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice, her parents James and Mary Roach and siblings, Donna Roach, Jim Roach, Charlotte Lantz, Nellie Sullivan, Annie Casey, Mayme Graham, and Albena Goffinet.
