Obituary of Elaine Anne HUNTER
May 26, 1956 – Montreal, Quebec
November 27, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
Elaine Hunter of Calgary passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the age of 59 years.
Elaine spent most of her career in the oil and gas industry and travelled extensively, including many trips to Europe and a recent trip to Africa. She showcased her creativity through her photography, gardening and cross-stitching. She was also a passionate animal advocate … an unsung hero dedicated to animal rescue and a proud foster “mom” to countless cats and kittens. Last but not least, Elaine was a diehard Montreal Canadiens fan who wore her Habs jersey with pride.
Elaine had a razor-sharp wit and could make you laugh until you cried. She was accomplished in her own right and displayed a fierce sense of independence and determination.
“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.”
E.E. Cummings
Elaine is survived by her mother Alice Hunter (nee Chambers) of Calgary, formerly of Montreal; her brother David of Montreal; numerous cousins in the Connolly and Beattie families in Montreal and Calgary, as well as many cherished friends. She was predeceased by her father W. Francis (Frank) Hunter and her cousin Owen Connolly.
