Obituary of William MEIKLE
December 12, 1935 – November 28, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of William Ernest (Bill) Meikle, beloved husband of 32 years to Marian Meikle, passed away on November 28, 2015, at the young age of 79 years, with his loving wife and daughters at his side.
Bill was born on December 12, 1935 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, first born son of Ernst Grant and Mary Elizabeth Meikle. Bill has a younger brother, Bob (Bonnie) Meikle, and sister, Sandra (Donnie) Murphy. Bill was predeceased by his brother, John Wayne Meikle. Bill is also survived by his two daughters, Sandra Davidson (Gary) and two grandchildren, Megan and Kelsey as well as his daughter, Deby Meikle, and his grandchildren, Kristopher and Amanda and five great grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his grandson, Joey Kloeckes. Bill spent over 30 years in the service, 6 years in the Navy and 20 years in the Air Force. Following that career, he joined Telus until his retirement.
Bill was a kind man who loved to tell jokes, share recipes, help others and spend time with family and friends. Bill had numerous close friends, including his best friends, Bob Sutton and Sam Crowshaw. During Bill’s lifetime, he and his loving wife Marian, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending many summers at their property at Gleniffer Lake.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, tributes can be made in Bill’s honour directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.
