Obituary
Obituary of Robert Bob Evan RIDDELL
November 20, 1937 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
November 26, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bob just days after his 78th birthday.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and partner of fifty years, Judie; his three cherished children and their spouses, Barb (Matt Craven), Christine (Dean Scott) and Gerry (Sveta Borovko); his treasured grandchildren, Katie, Will and Alison; his dear sister Heather (Walter Coxon); and his many friends and extended family.
Bob was raised in Regina, attended high school at Campion College and briefly studied agriculture at University of Saskatchewan before completing his Business Administration degree at Ryerson University. It was in Toronto that he met the love of his life, Judie. They married in Regina in 1965 before settling in Calgary to raise their three children.
Bob worked in sales and banking until 1979 when he opened Riddell Appraisal Services which he ran for seventeen years with Judie. He thoroughly enjoyed his twenty-two years of retirement, traveling extensively through Europe and North America, attending music and theatre performances in Calgary and wherever he travelled, and volunteering for his many charities, in particular The Kiwanis Festival and Discovery House.
Bob was a true gentleman and will be remembered for his calm and unassuming manner, his unbridled optimism and his devotion to family. He was happiest surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren whether it be at frequent Sunday dinners or during one of many family vacations, most recently, to Mexico and Great Britain to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary.
Our lives are the better for having known him. To say he will be missed does not begin to convey the sorrow felt at his passing.
