Obituary of June Ann RYAN

RYAN, June Ann February 19, 1931 – Vancouver, British Columbia November 28, 2015 – Okotoks, Alberta June Ann passed away peacefully at the Foothills Country Hospice on Saturday, November 28, 2015. June Ann Jones was born in Vancouver, BC. She and her mother, Edith, moved to Youngstown, AB when she was very young. She lived with her mother and grandparents, to whom she was very close until 1946, when she and her mother moved to Calgary. She made lifelong friends in Youngstown, including her future husband, Art Ryan. She and Art kept in touch, fell in love and married in 1952. After spending their first few years in Brooks, AB, Fort St. John, BC and Grande Prairie, AB they settled in Haysboro where they lived for 50 years before retiring to High River in 2005. June Ann was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching baseball (especially the World Series), hockey and golf on Sundays. She loved playing bridge and Mah-Jong with friends. All who knew June Ann knew that she was never a drinker but on a trip to Maui in 2014 she acquired a taste for very expensive Pina Coladas to everyone’s surprise! She had struggled with her health for most of the year and when she knew she would not be able to return home, she requested to go to Foothills Country Hospice where her beloved husband of 60 years spent his final days in 2012. She is survived by her children Susan (Kent) Anderson, Rob (Deb) Ryan, Kelly (Shelley) Ryan, Dan (Kris) Ryan; her grandchildren Nicole (Sol) Rashidian, Lindsey (Tony) Balakas, Kirby, Matt, Parker, Rachel and Joe Ryan, as well her great-granddaughters Isabella and Gia Balakas, Talia and Suri Rashidian. A Gathering will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through .
