Obituary of Joyce Isla RATHGEBER
Joyce Isla (Keller) Rathgeber
February 13, 1933 – October 14, 2015
Joyce Rathgeber passed away at the age of 82, leaving behind a wealth of love and memories. Born and raised in Saskatchewan she married George, the first and only love of her life, in 1951 and in 1952 their family was increased with the birth of their son “Billy”. In 1962 they moved to Calgary where they lived for the rest of their lives enjoying camping trips, card games, square dancing with the Queens and Jacks and family time. She worked for many years at K-Mart as their Advertising Manager. Mom loved country music, “old time” dancing, the Flames and the Stampeders and her annual Fall motorcycle ride through the Foothills with Bill. Clever and accomplished at practically everything, she could create a square dance dress, carpet the house or shingle the roof before putting a great dinner on the table for all comers.
Predeceased by George and her younger brother Bill Keller, Mom’s memory will be cherished by her son Bill (Shelagh), grandsons Jason (Karen), Zak (Laura) and Travis, and the apple of her eye, her great granddaughter Olivia. She was delighted to know that she would have another great grandchild next Spring. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Doreen McGregor, brother Ernie (Shirley) Keller, sister Delores (Bob) Lamarsh, sister in law Val Keller, and their families.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff in the Evergreen Unit of Southwood Care Centre for their wonderful care and unfailing kindness.
Family and friends are invited to come and share memories Sunday, October 25, 2015 between 1-4 at Bill and Shelagh’s house, 1012 Mapleglade Drive SE, Calgary.
For now, remember Mom with a smile and the sure knowledge that once again she and Dad are dancing.
