Condolences
To Carol’s Family,
My deepest condolences on your loss. Carol and I went to Bonnie Doon at the same time and onto the Royal Alexanda Hospital for our three years of nurses training. I lost touch with Carol about twenty years ago, but have thought of her many times over those years. My memories are of a kind, smart, fun loving woman who was so proud of her boys. I know you will miss her terribly.
Sincerely, Myrna Ellston ( nee Swanson)
My heartfelt condolences to Carol’s family on her passing. I met Carol in the mid-fifties when I was in Grade 9 and she in Grade 7 at what was then King Edward Park (now Donnan) school. I spent quite a bit of time at her house in Avonmore, and enjoyed the company of her parents also. May she rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to the Laird Family in the loss of your Mom.
Carol spent a great deal of time over several years with her Auntie Winnie and Uncle Chester and her cousins Doreen, Alvin, Joyce and Gordon at their Sherwood Park Dairy Farm.
A few of Joyce’s memories:
Carol was quite like her father in that she was easy to joke with and liked to have fun.
Joyce remembers Carol staying at their farm and taking her to church on Sunday. Carol wore a gold winter coat and her mother, Shirley, had knit her a brown angora bonnet and mittens. “She was always so nicely dressed and particularly so in that outfit with her deep brown eyes” recalls Joyce.
Joyce was a member of Canadian Girls in Training and this group was to visit an Indian Residential School North of Edmonton in the St. Albert area. Carol wanted to come along, she was 3 or 4. The CGIT girls were playing games in a circle with the young aboriginal girls at the school and each were vying for the opportunity to hold Carol’s hand. You have to remember that this was the late 1940’s and a young child like Carol would have been a rarity in the lives of children living in these institutions.
Love, Joyce
To Carol’s Family,
Our sympathy to you all with the loss of your precious Carol. May the many memories of good times together be a comfort to you. Take care……Terry & Jacquie
