Obituary of G. June SWINTON

SWINTON, G. June September 17, 1928 – Toronto, Ontario September 8, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta June was the cherished wife of 67 years to William Bruce Swinton, who will miss her immensely. When Bruce/Bill was transferred from Oshawa in 1960, June made the trip alone with their 5 children on a Viscount plane – a flight of over 9 hours. She was a good cook, talented knitter and sewer, a skilled bridge player and once had a perfect hand in cribbage. June curled for many years at the North Hill curling club and skipped an 8 ender. While a member of the Douglasdale Golf Club she had a hole in one. She had been an active member of the Kinettes – was twice club president, once in Ontario and again in Calgary. This is where she met many of her closest friends. She had fun-filled holidays with friends and family at Mara Lake and also visited some 50 countries. She leaves behind 5 loving children and their spouses: Murray Swinton (Leanna), Jim Swinton (Nikki), Debbie Potter (Garry), Wendy Swinton (Randy), Sandy Donald (Brian). They in turn produced 9 grandchildren: Kris Swinton (Jane), Stacey Slone (Kirk), Lindsey Swinton (Yemi), Jenny Frost (Geoffrey), Adam Campbell, Matthew Campbell (Emma), Karla Smit (Danny), Ryan Donald (Chantelle), Lauren Donald. Who in turn produced 14 great grandchildren: 2 in Edmonton, 3 in Atlanta GA, 8 in Calgary and one in Bangkok, Thailand. June will also be missed by her sister-in-law Marlene, niece and nephews in Ontario. June is predeceased by her granddaughter Krystle June Donald (at birth); her sister Audrey Johnson and her brother Murray Patry of Ontario. The family wish to extend warm and sincere thanks to the staff at the Rockyview General Hospital and Lake Bonavista Lodge. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through .
