Obituary of John Ferris MOONEY

June 16, 1935 – Dublin, Ireland October 13, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness that we announce that Peter Mooney, of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Peter was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family very much. Peter and his wife Mary were married for forty-seven years and she held a very special place in his heart. Peter had a terrific life and many fond memories. He enjoyed a long and successful career with Imperial Oil which took him to different cities and afforded the opportunity to work with some incredible people. In his retirement he was an active member of the Esso Annuitants Club. Peter and Mary enjoyed their time with the Walking Club and of course the Wine Appreciation Club where Peter served a term as President. Anyone who knew him knew he was an avid cryptic crossword puzzle solver and he loved tackling the most challenging Sudoku puzzles. Classical music was his passion and Peter was very knowledgeable about many classic composers and their life’s work. Peter and Mary had a special appreciation for mystery theatre and attended many performances. Peter and his buddies met regularly for ‘Tuesday Lunch’ and this was an important part of his week and one that he attended to the end. He will be deeply missed by family and dear friends, but he will continue to live forever in our hearts. Peter is survived by his wife Mary; his daughter and son-in-law Hilary and Dave, his son and daughter-in-law David and Tammy; five grandchildren, Darren (Ammara), Nicole (Blaine), Emily (Rob), Jason, Melanie (Tyson); four great-grandchildren Kadence, Colton, Kylie, Evan. Peter was predeceased by his great-grandson Quinn. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY () on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church () on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in Cormack Hall.
