Obituary of John Bernt THORPE

January 22, 1938 – Calgary, Alberta October 9, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta John Thorpe, beloved husband of Elsje Happel of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the age of 80 years. John passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital. The world has lost a gentle and kind soul. Born in Calgary, he was a valuable member of our community and giving back was something that he held close to his heart. He was involved with the Calgary Flames, Al Azhar Shriners and Calgary Stampede for most of his life. Left to remember John are his daughters; Nancy, her husband Richard and their two boys, William and Jack, and Alison, her husband Jan and their two daughters Laura and Nichole. He also leaves behind his brother Roy and sister-in-law, Janet. He will be missed by cousins Nelda, Beverly, Audrey and Frank. John was well loved by his extended family and countless close friends and will be missed dearly. At John’s request, a Private Family Service was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY.
