Obituary of Karl Heinz BRAU

June, 29, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
Karl passed away peacefully, after a short battle with lung cancer, on Monday, June 29, 2015 at the age of 81 years.
Karl was born January 22, 1934 in Ritterhude, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1953. Karl was a journeyman bricklayer and worker in the trade until he retired at 72 years of age. He kept very busy with his favourite hobbies of gardening, fishing, model ships and his model railroad.
Karl will be sadly missed by his wife Elisabeth, to whom he was married for 48 years; his son Marcus and wife Lisa, of Calgary, AB; daughter Diane and husband Kevin Ashton of Cold Lake, AB; his grandsons Brandon and Austin of Calgary, AB; Cody-Jerrod (Rayne) Forsyth of Cold Lake, AB; and his last surviving brother Gunther Brau of Lethbridge, AB. He will also be greatly missed by his many friends: Anni Linke, Volker and Denise Linke, Monika and Robert of Germany, Cherry and Peter, April and Priscilla, Harold and Iris, his bricklayer family and his many nephews, nieces and friends in Canada and Germany.
Karl’s family would like to thank the many great staff at the Foothills Hospital, Rockyview Hospital, the many home care nurses, doctors and paramedics that made Karl comfortable during his illness.
In honouring Karl’s request, no funeral service will be held.
