Obituary of Ruth Yvonne DUFOUR

April 21, 1960 – Saskatoon, SK June 10, 2015 – Calgary, AB Ruth passed away peacefully in her home early in the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the age of 55. Ruth was born April 21, 1960 to parents Arnold and Adeline Vogelgesang in Saskatoon where she grew up. She met her husband Morley in Saskatoon and they were married June 9, 1989. It was a work opportunity that brought her and Morley to Calgary in 1994. Ruth was a 1980 graduate of Hotel Administration and a 1993 Commerce graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. Ruth had a very active professional life: Ruth first started working as a lifeguard and was active in the Royal Life Saving Society as a member of the board of directors. She often reminisced about the summers she spent as a waterfront lifeguard at Waskesiu National Park. She went on to become a National Lifeguard examiner. After Kelsey (KIAAST) she was a successful restaurant manager running a few of the more popular restaurants and bars in Saskatoon for 10 years. Her shift into Human resources brought her to Calgary where she worked as an HR Consultant with the City of Calgary. Ruth’s greatest passions in life were music, dancing, chocolate and family. Not necessarily in that order. Ruth received great pleasure watching and participating in the development of her two children Sadie and Gabriel. Her faith and pride in their abilities and accomplishments was over the top and cannot be measured. Ruth had an amazing perspective on life. Every day was a new adventure with opportunities to meet new people and discover new things. Her positive energy was infectious with everyone she met. Ruth faced every challenge as on opportunity for success and lived by the motto “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Ruth will greatly missed. Ruth is survived by her husband Morley; her children Sadie and Gabriel; her parents Arnold and Adeline; her sister Lana as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.
