Obituary of Jean Marie RONEY

June 20, 1933 – Wellington County, Ontario June 3, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta Jean Marie Roney (nee Douglas) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 81. Jean was born in the Belwood area of Wellington County, Ontario. After graduating Nursing School in Guelph, she took the train ‘Out West’ and made her home in Calgary. While working at the Calgary General Hospital, Jean met Doug at a hospital dance. After the working at the General Hospital, Jean worked the bulk of her career at the Rockyview Hospital where her caring heart and organizational skills were put to good use as nursing supervisor. Jean loved camping, trailering around most of Canada with her young family, and then a much more comfortable RV’ing around North America with Doug in their retirement. Her favourite times were gathered round the campfire with a mug of coffee and Bailey’s, roasting s’mores with kids, or playing a fierce game of euchre with family and friends. Jean was always helping someone with both love and practicality. Her smile and her sharp wit will be deeply missed. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 48 years, Doug; her daughter, Valerie; her son, Steven and his wife Jennifer; her grandchildren, Nolan, Annella, and Grant; as well as by her extended family and her many good friends.
