Condolences
hello, I just found out about murray’s passing last may and am very sorry to hear this tragic news. Murray and I went to school together (started in elementary all the way up to end of high school) and I will always remember him with fond memories. We didn’t keep in touch after school but he was often in my thoughts. Please know that murray touched all those that knew him and I will always hold a special place in my heart for him. I hope time has healed some of your pain.
I am very saddened to hear about the passing of Murray. He was a great person to work with and spoke a lot of about his daughter. Sending my condolences to Murrays family and friends.

Sad and shocked. So many memories from the early nineties … a great person, smart, warm hearted with a great sense of humor. Thanks for sharing unforgettable moments. Prayers and condolences to family and friends. R.I.P. Murray #16
Dear Ken, Betty & Family. I am so sorry for your loss. Mom and dad told me about Murray’s passing. You are in my thoughts.
When I have met Murray we were teenagers and he came to Iserlohn as an exchange student and hockey player. But even at that young age Murray was already a great character and it was always fun to be with him and to talk with him.
And to start these lines and even to use the past tense while writing hurts so much and although we have not seen each other for such a long time I have often been thinking of Murray and planning to meet once I am back in Canada and to see what he has been doing all this time. But to hear that Murray’s journey already ended is shocking.
My teacher once wrote into one of my books “that you shall take routes nobody has taken before so that you leave tracks and not just sand.”
Dear family McIntosh, dear Ryleigh and friends, Murray has left tracks – tracks in our hearts!
And I do hope so much that the pain in your hearts will heal by all the great memories you have of such a great person.
We will miss him.
Monika from Germany
I’m deeply sorry to hear about Murray passing. It’s shocking.
My dad worked with Mr. McIntosh at the Calgary Herald for roughly 30 years. It was because of the friendship between the two dads that I got to be around Murray. I’m 9 years younger than Murray and I always looked up to him. He always seemed to be the best player, the best team mate, the best looking guy, and the best guy with the girls. He was just cool.
Sometimes when Mr. McIntosh would visit Murray in Germany he would bring me home a set of Murray’s gloves, or a team jersey and one year he even brought me a pair of Murray’s Graf skates. In my Bantam and Midget years they were my prized possession. I loved those skates.
Mr. & Mrs. McIntosh, Ryleigh, the McIntosh family and Murray’s friends, I’m just so sad that Murray is gone. The world is less cool with him gone.
I worked with Murray at McInnis & Holloway 2007-2010. I am deeply sad by the passing of Murray McIntoch. He was always very kind, Details and exceptical person to work with a great humour.
Murray May God have you in glory dear friend
Within the sadness is a treasure of cherished memories that will help ease the pain of our loss to all who were touched by the kindness of such a special man. It has been a pleasure to work with Murray all these years. You have been an inspiration to many and I thank you for your guidance within the funeral industry. I give blessings to have known Murray, it has left me knowing just how privileged I am to call you my co-worker..my friend. Many blessings to Ryleigh, Murray’s parents and to his family and friends.
Rest in peace my friend.
Ken and Betty: We were so saddened to read of the passing of your son Murray. Our family wanted to send our condolences and let you know we are thinking of you all at this very difficult time.
-Carl, Diana and Joel Bond
Although I had only known Murray for a short time – we got along so well. I will certainly miss his visits to my desk and our conversations that made me throw my head back in laughter… and somehow he’d always remind me that he’s “training for the Olympics”.

My condolences to all of Murray’s Family and Friends,

Dear Family McIntosh,
We are totally shocked about Murry´s death. Our former chairman from Iserlohn, Claus Karst wrote me today. We can´t believe it. Even though we were not in contact for years, Murray will be in the Memories of all the Players he played with in Germany.
R.I.P.
Maria and Bernd Haake
It is with deep sadness that I learn about Murray’s death. He was just 16 when he visited Germany as an exchange student for the first time. He stayed with my family and played for my former minor team, the Iserlohn Rebels. He was always an excellent and fair team player and was well liked by everyone. During this year he was like a son to us. One year later my kids Nicki and Catrin visited Calgary in return. They still talk about it. Our deepest sympathy is with his family, especially with his parents, Ken and Betty. Murray will always stay in our heart.
Claus Karst sr. and wife Uschi from Iserlohn/Germany
Dear Ken, Betty, and McIntosh Family,
Words cannot express the loss you must feel on the passing of your precious Murray. I did not have the privilege of knowing Murray but if he was anything like Ken and Betty I am sure he was gifted with an inspirational soul and a heart of gold. May you lean your weariness on God’s breast today and let God’s love comfort you at this difficult time. Our prayers are with You all.

Then, as they sail away on the laughing waters, they seem to say;

Murray may your soul rest in perfect peace. I will always miss your warm hand shake everytime we met at the cemetery and the beer you bought for me at the Wilbert Christmas party. I am sure you are sitting at the right hand side of the almighty. RIP
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time!
I was Murray’s landlord since 2007 and was very stunned to learn about his passing. I still cannot believe that he passed so unexpectedly and I’m going to miss his monthly conversations and gentle texts, letters and ongoing photo’s of Ryleigh.
He was a “happy father”. Murray was a wonderful man and we were blessed to know him. However, as they say, the one who is adored the most by the God, is the one who achieves eternal life. I will miss Murray and I will cherish all the happy memories I had with him. Murray rest in peace
With all of my sympathy and love
With Deep Sadness I wish to express my condolences to all of Murray’s family and friends. I wish to share my condolences with Ryleigh, Murrays’ daughter. Such a sad time for you dear Ryleigh. You had one of the best people in the world for a Dad, He was such a powerhouse. He will always be there as your guardian angel. Murray was such a super person in his professional role as a funeral director. He was there with his smile and open arms to all. He seemed to be everywhere and made all of us at ease in a stressful situation. Last August, My best friend of 56 years passed, and Murray was there looking after everything in order. When all was said and done, he was helping my Step-son Glen with all the flowers etc. and he reached over and shook Glen’s hand and said
” PLEASE GIVE EILEEN A MESSAGE FOR ME, TELL HER RYLEIGH IS DOING GREAT, AND I AM SO VERY PROUD OF HER.”
Glen came back to the house and said, Murray said to tell you this, I thanked Glen and said Murray is a special type person.
God bless Murray’s family and Daughter Ryleigh and Ryleigh’s mother Naomi.
Murray will be missed and thought of many times over.
Blessings From the Wiebe family.
Murray and I became good friends from the first time we met. I always looked forward to our meetings because of his personality, knowledge about sport and great sense of humor. It was a pleasure to have him around anywhere we were together.
He was an extraordinary man and great father, always mentioned his daughter in our conversations. My deepest condolences to Ryleigh and his family, and Murray, I will always miss you, My Friend.

I was deeply touched and saddened hearing that Murray passed away so early.
It was a great time I could spend with him. I met him 1983/84 in Iserlohn, playing together in the minor-teams and staying with my family. I will always remember him as a great hockeyplayer, defense-partner in our hockyteam, and friend. Also I will never forget the time, me and my sister could spent with him and the whole Mc Intosh family in Calgary summer 1984.
My thoughts are with the whole family in these difficult times.
My deepest condolences to all of you.
It takes a very special person to do what Murray chose to do for a living. Murray was definitely a very special man. I felt very blessed just knowing that he was behind the scenes working with us during our difficult time. We will always be grateful for that.
I can’t be there on Tuesday but know that my thoughts and prayers will be.
I am very sorry for your loss. Murray will be missed.
Sincerely
Cheryl Hanna
Murray my friend, sorry I lost touch with such a great commrade. Its happened to too many of my dear friends over the years. Condon, Marcil, Huber, Switzer, Turner, Mackenzie, Patterson, and so many more. All the hockey leagues that Murray and we all played in, there is no doubt that Murray made nothing but friends. I am blessed to have all of my friends in my life and losing Murray has made me recognize the importance of what was built at a very young age with everybody I have been blessed to know. My memories are deep and my bond is strong to Murray.
Ryleigh my apologies for never having met you. My daughter Brooklynn is your age and she could use a new friend. Sorry for your loss.Your Dad was a very special person. Our doors are always open if you ever want to talk. Uncle Dave can help and I welcome the opportunity to share what your Dad meant to me.
Murray I trust the Lord will hold you in a special place, a place where you are with all of the people you have touched over all the year’s. I am truly saddened that I lost touch with you. You are a dear friend of mine as all of my other commrades are. Brotherhood. Your loss will bring me and my brothers together, reunited.
I will remember you the way I know best…..skate like the wind…wingman always first……and your infectious persona….your family, Dave and Doug and your big dog that had a very interesting way of greeting me when I would come over. You are not lost, you are a great friend and your legacy will remain with me and all of those that you touched. Thank you for your gift.
SWAA, Calgary Spurs, and all of the professional hockey teams I lost track of in your excellence is a legacy. Your friendship was instrumental in who I am today. I Love you brother find solstice where you are, you deserve solstice and peace.
Mr. and Mrs. McIntosh, Ryleigh and family, I am truly sorry for your loss of a son , a great father and brother. I started working with Murray in 2011 after a 32 year career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. We had many great work adventures together on road trips to Cardston, Nelson, B.C., and numerous trips to Morley, Siksika and Tsuu T’ina. We were chased by a brahma bull in Morley and became expert gopher ranglers in Tsuu T’ina. We shared many family and work stories on our adventures over the past 4 years. Ryleigh I am not sure if you remember but your Dad brought you to a Remembrance Day Service two years ago at the Horton Road Legion. I was in my Mountie Red Uniform and your Dad wanted you to meet me and experience your first Remebrance Day Service. As he introduced you to me I could see his chest puff out with pride and joy of this beautiful little girl whom he loved so much. You are and always will be the light of your Dad’s life. As you can see by all of the very encouraging and kind comments that his friends have made, your father, Murray McIntosh, has made a significant impact on countless people throughout his brief stay on earth. Ryleigh he will always be in all of our hearts and thoughts and when you are down or things just aren’t right remember your Dad is your Guardian Angel and will watch over you forever. Murray, through your kindness, thoughtfulness and terrific sense of humour you made me a better person and for that I am eternally greatful. Rest in Peace My Friend.
Bruce Barkley
Dear Ryleigh,
Heaven holds a special place for people like your Dad.
Murray went to bat for me and my son when we were in need of a friend and advice.
He is always in our prayers because of that.
My heart felt condolences to you and all yours.
Dear Ken and Betty — Bette and I were saddened (and shocked!) to hear of Murray’s passing. We know you guys will miss him…as will all his family and friends. We’ve been friends for so many years (and are getting up there!) that it seems not fair to lose one so young. God bless you both…and the family, too!
Hugs from Tom and Bette
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Murray. It was always a pleasure to work with him over the years. He will truly be missed and will never be forgotten.
Meine Gedanken sind bei Dir und Deiner Familie! Gute Reise Murray! I pray for you
I have spent the last few days trying to put my thoughts of Murray into comprehensible text and I just don’t know how to. I will say this to his beloved daughter; your dad loves you so much and always will. I know it will hurt for a long time from my own loss of my mother at a young age. Keep him in your heart always and talk about him often. Even if you annoy people with how many questions you have about who your dad is. Just do it, because it will keep you close to him. To all of Murray’s family, friends, coworkers, or anyone else who Murray touched, my thoughts, prayers and love to you all. He was an amazing coworker and I couldn’t make it through some days without him. It was a privilege to know him. Thank you for sharing him with me. ♡
– Megan
I met Murray in Kassel (Germany) in 1992. During his time (1992 – 1996) as a player of the EC Kassel and the Kassel Huskies, he has always been a fair sportsman. He always had a smile on his face. So I will remember him. I’m so sad about his death.
Murray, you lived your life as a great example for us all! You were much loved and will be greatly missed. Love and prayers to Murray’s friends and family.

Murray; for a man who devoted his life and career to helping and caring for those in need; this seems so unfair and that much harder to bare. May your charming smile, infectious laugh and your incredible sense of humour forever live on in the hearts and souls of everyone you touched.

Murray I am deeply saddened of your sudden passing. You were such an amazing person and funeral director. You did an amazing service for my grandfather who passed away 5 years ago. I wanna thank you for being a mentor for me as I was considering a career in the funeral industry and all the tours you gave me at the Mcinnis and holloway funeral homes. R.I.P.
I signed my first pro contract with 19 and Murray was my teammate in Kassel/Germany. He was a great player and such a great person. He helped me as a young player a lot. I am shocked and sad to hear that he passed.
I’m so sorry and sad. I send you my deepest condolences on your loss.

Deepest thoughts and condolences to Murray’s family from the Switzer family. He was a very close friend of mine for over twenty five years and was best man at my wedding. He was a person possessing so much charisma and had a natural ability to make people laugh. He could easily put a friend or a stranger at ease and any interaction one had with him would send you away with a positive experience.
Ryleigh – even during our last discussions in the hospital, Murray was only too happy to talk about you and how proud he was to be your Dad.
I am lucky to have had so many funny and fond memories of Murray through our friendship and experiences together over so many years that covered from our mid-teens to into our adult years. We had a lot in common that covered a diverse list of topics and interests that evolved over so many years. I will miss our chats and the laughs. You will be missed.
RIP my friend.

I worked at a restaurant that Murray frequented and he was one of my favourite customers. He was always so kind and thoughtful, and just a very happy guy. I was always glad to see him when I came to work. I am so sorry for your loss.
I am hurt to find out one of my best buddies died…. He was the greatest guy. We had a lot of great times together during our hockey years. RIP Murray

To Murray’s family and friends
Hearing of Murray’s passing has brought me great sadness and I am thinking of all (I know he touched the lives of so many people) who are feeling his loss. I am blessed to have shared any time at all with this amazing and wonderful man! He has brought so much happiness and laughter to my life and am so thankful for all the long hours we shared at work together. Murray was one of the most selfless people I know, he always knew how to bring a smile to someones face, and was always proud to talk about his beautiful Ryleigh. I am thankful for all he taught me and I will never forget him. I am praying for you Murray, and for your family. I PRAY you are now at peace.
To Murray’s family and friends, no words can express how saddened we were when we heard of his passing. He was an amazing man. We both worked with Murray and felt his kind and sweet spirit every time we saw him. Everyone who knew him shares this loss with you. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully you will find comfort in knowing how much he ment to so many.
I had the honour of working with Murray. In that time, he shared his knowledge, compassion and love of life with me. Knowing someone with such a big heart and warm smile is a very rare thing; something you should cherish and hold dear to you forever. I plan to do just that.
Murray was always open, funny and kind. It showed in everything he did and in the faces of everyone he was able to share a moment with.
I will miss his stories of Ryleigh, funny songs, wild laugh and genuine love.
I am so very sorry for your loss.
To the McIntosh family. My sincerest condolences to you all, I worked with Murray for a year at Mcinnis and Holloway. His sense of humour and wit made coming to work an absolute pleasure. He was passionate about his job and the families he served. He will be truly missed.
….There is an empty space where you once stood Murray……and there is no one here that can fill it…….We will go forward and your memory shall remain with us. Be strong, Ryleigh and let your father’s love and strength wash over you.
I was fortunate to have Murray as a close friend in our Junior High and High School years.
Murray had a gifted personality, easy going with a keen sense of humor that drew people to him.
Also a gifted defenseman, playing bantam, with the Broncos under coach Ken(Murray’s Dad) Murray played hockey with such confidence and intelligence. He was such a smooth effortless skater.
A great team mate, and simple a great guy to be around.
I am thankful for his friendship and good times we shared together in our teenage years.
He will always be remembered.
Dearest Ryleigh, Although he was always an uplifting person, you should know he was always the happiest when he would talk about you. He was always so excited for the opportunity to spend time with you and was so proud to tell about your latest accomplishments and milestones. He has always been so very proud of you. You were the light of his life. You should know that your dad has been a caring and selfless friend to so many. He was really an amazing person and will continue to be missed for a long time to come. You and your family are in my prayers.
