Obituary of Helen Jane BUTLER

August 3, 1942 – Coronation, Alberta September 6, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of my mom Helen Jane Butler. Mom passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the age of 76 years at the Foothills Medical Centre. Mom moved with her family to Calgary in 1954, and moved to Bowness in 1957 where she continued to live until her passing. Mom was the oldest of four brothers and sisters, she never married. She worked at Imperial Oil in the human resources department until 1992; Mom then worked for the Quilters Cabin and Ceridian Canada part-time before finally retiring full-time. Grandma moved in with mom in 1997 so mom could keep an eye on her, and so grandma could keep an eye on her too. This started a twenty-one year caregiver role that mom played until grandma’s recent passing in July 2018. Mom loved to quilt and for many years was a member and leader of Piecemakers Quilt Guild, and Northern Lights, she also loved to read, do crossword and Jigsaw puzzles, gardening and she enjoyed going on adventures with her friend Barb Saunders on a regular basis. Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Shelley and David Murray; grandsons Benjamin and Carson; sister Elizabeth (Betty) MacKinnon, her brother and sister-in-law Kary and Sheila Butler; sister-in-law Marguerite Butler; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many family members on the “Kary” side of the family.
