Obituary of Roger Joseph DESMARAIS

May 11, 1929 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan April 3, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta Roger Desmarais, cherished husband of Alison Desmarais for 59 years, passed away at the Bethany Care, Calgary on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the age of 85. In addition to his loving wife Alison, Roger is survived by his children, Leslie Miotti (Anthony), Catherine Loggin (Richard), Aurelie Desmarais (Ed Struzynski) and David Desmarais (Susan); his devoted grandchildren, Talia Miotti and Adam Miotti (fiancée Ashley Ternieden); sister Yvette DeGagne; and his many nieces and nephews. Roger was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the youngest of ten children. Roger and Alison met in Wynyard, Saskatchewan, where they married in 1955 and started their family. After relocating to Calgary in 1963, Roger pursued a career in accounting and real estate investment. Roger loved the game of golf and was an avid player for much of his life and a long-time member of the Earl Grey Golf Club. He was a great fan of hockey, having played in his early years, and also enjoyed playing cards, especially gin and bridge with friends. Roger had a great sense of humour, he relished a good practical joke, and loved to tell amusing stories at family dinners and gatherings.
