Obituary of Christa Ingrid BLACK

April 5, 1941 – Breslau, Germany September 7, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the passing of Christa Black, beloved wife of Denton Black of Stavely, on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the age of 77 years. One of the many ways Christa showed her love was creating beautiful hand knitted outfits for family, friends and to welcome new babies into the world. Christa was an avid golfer; she organized the ladies golf league at Twin Lakes, BC for many years. Transferring her skills to the ladies golf league in Stavely, she organized membership drives, prizes and landscaping improvements on the golf course. She was always actively involved in community events, enjoyed playing in shuffle board tournaments and organizing one of the largest crib tournaments in southern Alberta at the Stavely Golden Age Centre. She was also known for winning tournaments she organized, and feeling guilty for it. Christa is survived by her loving husband Denton; daughter Debrah and husband Doug Poppe of Calgary; son Arless and wife Jaime Black of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and daughter Jody Johnston of Chilliwack, BC. Five grandchildren, Jason Poppe of Calgary, Julie Berard of Grand Prairie, Karli Johnston of Chilliwack, BC, Alexandra Black of Calgary and Jacob Johnston of Penticton, BC. Five great-grandchildren, Chance Poppe, Austin Poppe, Damien Berard, Amy-Anne Berard and Bryson Poppe; and one great-great-grandson Hunter Poppe. Sisters, Luise Salm, Goodie Millership and numerous extended family and friends. Christa was predeceased by her sister Dorla Malo. Live and love….until we meet again. A memorial service will be held at the Golden Age Centre ()on Saturday September 29, 2018 from 1:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes can be made directly to the Alberta Hospice and Palliative Care Association, 1245 – 70th Avenue SE, Calgary AB T2H 2X8, Telephone: (403) 206-9938, .
