Obituary of John James Jack PRESTAGE
August 13, 1942 -March 26, 2015
It is with grateful hearts for a life well lived, and incredible sadness for our loss that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend – Jack Prestage.
Jack lived a life of passion and zeal for all of his 72 years. He and Lynne enjoyed a love story unrivaled by most for 47 years. Together they built a legacy of love and laughter that included raising two children, Don (Halley) & Kim (Bart), who are left to remember a father that taught them to love God and live their lives to the fullest.
Don and Halley gave Jack and Lynne the gift of five grandchildren, MacKennah (in heaven with Jack), Mateya, Liam, Keira and Little Jack. Kim gave Jack and Lynne their first grandchild Carlie, who spent 17 precious years having Jack as an incredible father figure and mentor. Jack was a devoted father, but an even more incredible grandfather . . . all of his grandchildren had the benefit of living close and spent years of quality time creating memories with Jack and Lynne that they will hold close and dear to their hearts forever.
Up until his recent battle with lymphoma, which he fought with courage and bravery the entire way, Jack lived life to the fullest – including skiing, surfing and any opportunities for fun that presented themselves. Jack would always don his ‘Adventure Hat’ for the grandbabies and proudly declaring ‘if the kids are doing it, I’m doing it’ . . . and he did!
Jack was blessed with five siblings who he loved dearly – Teenie (in heaven), Marjorie(John), Don (Betty), Binnie (Joe) and Nick (Audrey). Special thanks to Nick and Audrey who spent the last eight weeks with Jack providing love, support and care that allowed him to spend his remaining time in the comfort of his home.
Jack also enjoyed a special relationship with Lynne’s brother Rick, his wife Sally, and their children Pam and Karen. Many hours of laughter and love were enjoyed between them all for years . . . a bond that will never be replaced and will always be missed.
Jack and Lynne always opened their home to many– the investment they made into so many lives over the years has been evident in the love and support they experienced through Jack’s brief, but intense battle with cancer and following his passing. Along with all the friends Jack enjoyed, his coworkers and friends of Village Honda were amongst the ones he held very dear prior to his illness.
Jack’s faith has always been the center of his life – the very strength of his being. It gives his family and friends tremendous comfort knowing he is now celebrating the faith by which he lived his life.
Jack – we are so proud of the life you lived. It was an honor walk beside you – we will miss you with all our hearts.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at the Cochrane Ranch House (101 RancheHouse Road) on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through .
