The last of the original Whitefords who immigrated to Canada, Jenny was born in Shotts, Scotland on October 22, 1920 to Janet and Robert Whiteford. When svhe was 8 years old, Robert moved the entire family to Canada to find a better life. They settled on a farm west of Olds, Alberta. Jenny went to Waterside and Hainstock schools with her two brothers, Bob and Jim and later her new sister and brother, Mary and David. Jenny entered Olds College in Domestic Science and after graduation remained there on staff for a number of years. In the summers she worked in Lake Louise at Deer Lodge, where she met Carl Lang. Jenny and Carl married December 29, 1941. They lived on the West Coast during the war, where Carl was stationed with the RCAF. After the war, they moved to Calgary where Carl worked as a painter. Jenny was very active in the community and with the Calgary Curling Club. Jenny and Carl loved to travel in their small motor home, and after they retired, on longer trips to Hawaii. They lived in their home in Renfrew until Carl passed away. While she had no children, Jenny kept a well-stocked toy basket for young visitors. She loved hosting family occasions and Christmas Eve would find three generations of aspiring entertainers singing carols and old songs in her living room. Jenny could yodel up a storm and had a beautiful singing voice. Even in her later years, Jenny would sing out hymns at church services. Jenny left behind family and friends who will remember her with smiles and love. Her nieces Frances and Gail and her grand-niece Allison will miss her. Special thanks go to her cousin Joyce for making sure that she was in good hands in her later years and to her special friend Helen.
