Obituary of Shawn MORGAN

Shawn Morgan passed away peacefully at 7:15, February 17, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Shawn is survived by his loving wife Susan of 23 years. Shawn is tenderly remembered by his wife Susan as her one true love and an amazing father. In Susan’s words, “Shawn was ‘my everything’ and I feel privileged and blessed to have been his wife. I am truly a better person because of Shawn”. He was also the devoted and adoring father of his two sons Justin and Nathan who were the center of his life. He loved playing and coaching hockey and would flood the backyard each year for an ice rink for the boys and neighborhood kids. Shawn also loved his summers at Lake Windermere, driving the boat, golfing, biking and hanging out at Shadybrook. Shawn enjoyed life fully, especially when he was in the company of “his Susan, Justin and Nate”. He will be deeply missed. Shawn was born in Calgary on May 1, 1968. As a young boy growing up in Red Deer, Shawn not only excelled in school but in all sports he played. He played in the Red Deer Minor Hockey Association at the highest levels he could for each age group, and participated in many of the world renowned tournaments like the Max Midget tournament and Purolator Cup Canada’s Bantam AAA tournament in Winnipeg. He graduated from Lindsay Thurber High School in 1987 and went on to earn a Degree in Commerce from University of Calgary. He worked as a Certified Financial Planner for TE Wealth where he had numerous clients whom he loved consulting for. Shawn is also survived by his Mother Betty and Roy (Step-father), Father Dennis and Carol (Step-mother), all of Red Deer; Grandmother (Nana) Doris Morgan of Calgary; and Mother and Father-in-law Chuck and Jean Shipley of Rocky Mountain House; brothers Chris (Kodi) and Craig (Nut); and sister-in-law Bonnie (Chad); nieces and nephews Morgan, Casey, Zach, Alysha, Ty and Ryder; Aunt MJ (Syd), Uncle Kent (Myra), Uncle Rick (Allison) and cousins Brad, Beth –Ann, Corey, Jay, Melinda and Stephanie. Shawn was predeceased by his Papa, Fred Morgan and Aunt, Nancy Heath. Shawn’s memorial Celebration of Life will reflect his love of life, family, friends, sport and all the exuberance his life embodied; and will be held on Friday March 13, 2015, Doors open at 1:45 p.m. Service and Friendship 2:30 – 4:30 pm, at the BMO Centre Palomino Room Halls A-E, Parking is suggested in Lots 10, 11, $15.00 charge for parking -cash preferred.
