Obituary of Sheila RATCLIFF
September 26, 1934 – Montreal, Quebec
January 8, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
Sheila, beloved wife of 58 years to Chris, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Sheila graduated from MacDonald College at McGill University and after teaching elementary school for 5 years became a full time homemaker. Family and friends were everything to Sheila. She thrived on gathering with family, sharing coffee with friends, and acknowledging special events in others’ lives. Sheila never missed an opportunity to cook a hearty meal or bake incredible desserts, enjoyed settling in to do crossword puzzles, read a book, or knit mittens and was affectionately known as the Avon Lady. She was a devoted wife, amazing mother and loving grandma.
Sheila is also survived by her three children Rick (Shelley), Bonnie (Steve) and Dave (Leigh); her three granddaughters Megan, Caitlyn and Gabi; caring extended family; and oodles of wonderful friends. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Violet and Roland, and her brother Dick.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila’s name can be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
In living memory of Sheila Ratcliff, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
