Condolences
So very sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. I first met Tim around Grade 7 or 8, in the late sixties. We continued through High School together, and eventually into the same faculty at UW (although it took me a little longer to get there). We socialized a fair bit back in the day, this certainly is very sad news to me.
Regards,
Steve

Tim has been a friend since our days at the University of Waterloo in the 1970’s. I met his sister Julie through him, and she has been my wife for 32 years, so I will be forever indebted to him for that. Tim will be deeply missed, and my condolences to his family, especially his siblings Julie and Gerry, and his daughters Tamara and Tiffany.
Tim was my first boss when I started working at GD back in the mid-90s. He later became my mentor, my co-worker and my friend.
I had an opportunity to have lunch with Tim a few weeks ago. His booming voice was only eclipsed by his big heart as we talked about his family and mutual friends. He also quoted a few song lyrics which I can’t quite recall, but seemed to be a habit of his around me – and perhaps everyone.
He will be missed dearly – and my condolences to his family.
I didn’t see Tim often, but when I did, he was always smiling and laughing. He left us too soon and will be greatly missed.
Tiffany, Tammy, Trudi and family, my deepest condolences to your loss.
Love Pauline
Tim as your sister I feel I have lost a piece of myself. We shared a lifetime of memories growing up and are who we are today through the life we shared in our past. You left us all far too soon at the young age of 58. Your are in my heart forever.
With great love Julie
Sadden by the passing away of Tim. Was lucky to meet him for the last time last month in October for lunch during my visit to Calgary.
Tim was my manager many years ago at GDC/CDC. He was an excellent manager – knew his material very well and looked after his employees very well. Technically he was sound and was able to go from component level to system level in no time!
When I met Tim in Calgary in October, he showed pictures of his family on his phone and was proud of them. He mentioned that he still has the Sri Lankan elephant ornament I gave in 1999 in his office!
During the 13 years at GDC had many times to talk to him and be part of interesting projects – It was a pleasure to work for and with him – my sincere condolences from Sri Lanka.
To Tims family and friends,
I was a long time work acquaintaince of Tim’s from his time here in Ottawa. After he moved to Calgary I would occasionally meet him in the halls of the Calgary facility and it would be like no time had passed. He would always be his outgoing, enthusiastic self, keenly interested in friends we had in common and general “things going on” in Ottawa.
I know how much I will miss him so I can only begin to appreciate your loss,
My deepest condoleces,
Kris Boyle
I first met Tim almost 18 Years ago, he is the reason I work for GD today. He was the person that brought me in for my first job interview at Computing Devices Canada way back when. The respect I had for Tim grew each passing year. Tim was a good man with a big heart and I will truely miss him.
You have my deep and sincere condolences.
Dear Trudi and family
I am saddened to hear of Tim’s passing, gone too soon from this earth, but happily received in heaven. I did not know him well, but knew how much you loved each other and your family, the light of your love always beamed from your face whenever I visited the store in Watervalley. May you be comforted knowing how he was admired by so many and enriched many lives. May your hearts be warmed by my sincerest condolences sent to Alberta from sunny Bermuda.
To the Tiessen family. So sorry for your loss. I only met Tim a few times, but remember him with a smile on his face. I am sure he is still smiling – beside his his Mom & Dad.
Take Care.
Deb Hinsperger & family
Please accept Gwyn and my deepest sympathies. We had the pleasure of working with Tim at CDC and living in the same neighborhood in West Carleton. Tim was a kind and gentle soul and will be sorrily missed.
My deepest condolences to the Tiessen family .
My family grew up 2 doors from the Tiessen family. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of our shared summer vacations at Chandoss lake . Our cottages were beside each other- up on the hill. We’d play, and swim during the day, and played many games of black out bridge at night. Good times!
May memories of his kindness and warm heart help you during this difficult time.
I have worked with Tim at General Dynamics for the past two and a half years. Tim was one of the happiest, kindest, and most helpful people I have ever met. Everyone here loves Tim and we will all miss him very much.
Dear Family and Friends of Tim,
It has been my (and many others) very good fortune to have known and worked with Tim for 10 years. Of the many, many great moments with Tim, my favourite was our trip together to a radio conference in Washington, D.C.. Tim and his well-known amazing memory kept us entertained for the entire time with his stories and wonderful ideas.
We all know that Tim was passionate about Engineering and his work, but I believe that his greatest passion and gift was how he cared about all those people around him. He always, always put others ahead of himself and was kindest, nicest, most sincere person you could ever hope to work with or for. No matter what Tim’s commitments were, he always had time to help.
We do and will miss him deeply.
It was my pleasure to know Tim for the past 17 years. I didn’t work closely with Tim on a day-to-day basis but our hallway paths crossed at some point almost every day. I will truly miss those brief conversations we shared and the sage advice that Tim would willingly share when, as a young new recruit, I was feeling overwhelmed. As the years passed and I was no longer so young, or so new, I grew a deep respect and affection for Tim as so many hereabouts have done.
I am very sorry for the tremendous loss to your family. As you greive, know that I too am honouring the memory of Tim.
As friends of Julie and Nick Redding, we were honored to share Celia and Matt’s wedding table with the family. It was that night we met Tim. He impressed me as a very fine man, and I recall we chatted throughout the evening and celebrated marriage and the joys of family together. I hope others might remember him that way as well.
Our deepest condolences to Tim’s family and friends.
To all who knew and loved Tim,
I have worked with Tim on and off for the 18 years I’ve been with GD. From Iris, to ARS, to eCNR(P) and then CNR(E). It was always a joy to see his smiling face and listen to his insights, ideas, comforting words, sage advice and wildly entertaining stories. As many have said, Tim was one of the most caring and genuine people I have ever had the pleasure to know. I can only hope to live up to his example.
I will never forget the new lease on life his hip replacements gave Tim. He went from a man who was in obvious pain with each step he took to a “kid in a candy store”, hopping around with zest and vigor. It always gave me a lift in my step and joy in my heart to see him moving about so gleefully.
Tim will always have a special place in my heart and my memories, as I am sure is the case with all who had the priviledge to know him. The place just isn’t the same without out him. The halls seem darker and the air seems heavier without his wonderful smile and laugh to lighten the building. He certainly left his mark whereever he went and he will be sorely missed.
My sincere condolences.
Tiffany and Tammy I did not get the pleasure of meeting your dad but I have heard stories and through Wayne and yourself Tiffany I know he was an amazing father. My heart and prayers and thoughts are with you girls and your family . You girls are amazing and I am sure that your dad had a hand in that and he sure did raise two amazing beautiful girls.
Love always Isabella and Stan Woodridge (mom and dad Woodridge as known to Tiff Wayne’s parents)
Dear family and friends of Tim,
I had the sincere pleasure of working with Tim for four years at General Dynamics. I was his HR Advisor during that entire tenure.
I remember many great stories he would share of his family, friends, adventures and dreams with me on many occasions. Each and everyday Tim had a smile on his face and an admirable passion for the work he was doing.
It was my sincere honor to have met him and even more so to have worked with him.
Please allow me to express my heartfelt condolences to you in this time of great sadness.
Cherish the special gift of the wonderful memories he has given you. They are for ever.
Tim will always be fondly remembered by me and all that knew him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Amy Sikina
To The Tiessen Family –
I’ve known Tim for forty years. We both grew up on Vermont St in Waterloo. We were in awe of Tim’s academic prowess and always appreciated his sincere, friendly and humble personality.
I’ve also had the opportunity to work with Tim for the past 15 years. The tech industry has many people who would qualify for the label of genius. But Tim was in a class all his own. He was a giant. His designs and plans are part of the Canadian Soldiers’ standard equipment and will be for years to come.
So, after forty years, I am still in awe of Tim. As an engineer, he is not replaceable. As a human being, he is not forgettable.
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.
My deepest condolences and sympathy to everyone whom has had Tim in their life. Tiffany, Tamara I love you both. I wish I could be there with you at this time.
Trudy, I am so sorry I did not know Tim very well, but I do know he was a good man. I have been told he was wonderful to you and I could see how much you loved each other. Life goes on but never in the same way. Sincerely Beverlee Bullough…
