Obituary of JOAN HARTMAN

August 24, 1933 – November 8, 2014 It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Joan Hartman, an extraordinary woman, on November 8, 2014 at the age of 81. Born August 24, 1933 in Claresholm, AB, she is predeceased by her parents Alice & Andrew Peirce and sister Ailain. She is survived by her loving husband, soul-mate, and best friend of 58 years, Wes Hartman, as well as her children Brian (Kelly), Donna (Stewart), and Anne. Additionally, she’ll be greatly missed by her grandchildren Kimberly (Stephen), Rachelle, and Diana (Jevon) as well as her sisters Doreen (Frank) and Iona and many nieces and nephews. Joan was a nursing graduate of the Calgary General Hospital class of 1955 and greatly enjoyed spending time with her fellow graduates over the years. She was an avid golfer, a world traveler, a mischievous card player, a passionate supporter and volunteer at St. Andrew’s United Church, and a huge fan of the Stampede City Chorus, particularly Wes’ quartet G.O.L.D. Joan’s funeral will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 1:30 pm at the Deer Park United Church (77 Deerpoint Rd SE, Calgary). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sing Canada Harmony, an organization supporting a cappella singing in schools, community and chapters.
