Obituary of Elinor RAE
Born in Lansdowne, Ontario
Passed away in Calgary, Alberta
Elinor, beloved wife of Don Rae passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 after a lengthy battle with a rare lung disease.
Elinor was born in Lansdowne, Ontario, attended Gananoque High School, and was a graduate of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She lived in Calgary for thirty years and was a proud Albertan. Elinor was an active member of the Canadian Federation of University Women, the Calgary Nu-Grads Club and several social bridge groups. She was an accomplished pianist, had a love of the arts and music, and was a strong supporter of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Calgary Opera and the Alberta Ballet.
Elinor will be lovingly remembered by Don, her husband of fifty years; their three children and their spouses, Janice Rae and Gavin Huszti; Eric and Penny Rae; and Darrell Rae and Stephanie Fraser; seven wonderful grandchildren, Jacob, Ethan, Dominic, Danielle, Gwenyth, Stuart and Isla; as well as many friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her eldest son Roddy and her two sisters, Marie and Betty-Lou.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Elinor’s life to be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Elinor had requested that those attending the celebration of her life wear bright colours.
