Obituary of Giovanni FIORI

December 4, 1934 – Ploaghe, Sardegna, Italy September 29, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta Giovanni Fiori, beloved husband of Maria Fiori (nee Signorile) of Calgary, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Born in Ploaghe, Sardegna, Italy on December 4, 1934, Giovanni was a concrete finisher by trade. His greatest love was his family. Giovanni enjoyed gardening, making wine and loved his pets dearly. His Roman Catholic faith was important to him and he lived by the words “live, laugh, love.” Giovanni will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and loyal friend. Besides his loving wife Maria, Giovanni is survived by his children, Angela (Joe) Stambene, Gavino (Janice) Fiori, Rosa (Frank) Mercia, Franca (Steve) Coady, Tony (Janice) Fiori, and Anna (Shannon) Fiori; grandchildren, Lucia, Marianna, Sandra, Katrina, Amanda, Stephanie, Nina, John, Jonathan, Sarah, Marisa, David, Ethan and Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Olivia, Jayden, and Lucas. He is also survived by his sister Giovanna (Giovanni) Ledda; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Giovanni was predeceased by his parents Gavino and Maria Angela (nee Pintus) Fiori; and brother Bachisio Fiori. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (15 Templebow Road N.E.) on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
