October 12, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

John Glenn Robinson (“Glenn”), 79, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on October 12, 2019, at the Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

Glenn was born on May 16, 1940, in Woodlawn, ON, to John Hiram Robinson and Martha Theodora (Dora) Robinson (Wilson). He attended High School in Arnprior and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1966 from Queen’s University. While at Queen’s University, Glenn played football for the Golden Gaels. After graduation, Glenn followed the wave to the West and moved to Calgary with his new bride, Garda Robinson (Younghusband). Glenn started his career with Shell, followed by work with Scientific Software, then a long career with Sproule (geoscience and engineering), becoming President until his retirement. Through Glenn’s life, he was an active outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping.  Glenn’s hobbies lead him to breed and raise his own team of Tennessee Walking Horses and was often seen in the Calgary Stampede Parade with his four-horse hitch. Glenn travelled extensively with his career and personally.  He has been from the top of the world (Arctic Circle) to the bottom (Antarctica) and travelled to many places in between, including Egypt, Damascus, China, Venezuela, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

Glenn is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Garda Robinson (Younghusband), his children, Peter Robinson and Patty Stinson; and four grandchildren, Neil and Royce Robinson, and Kiera and Holly Stinson.  He leaves behind his sister Mary Millar (Robinson); sister-in-law Brenda Taylor (Younghusband); and brother-in-law John (Janet) Younghusband along with many nieces and nephews.  Glenn is predeceased by his sister Edith Portt (Robinson).

Glenn will be missed by so many and his memory will live on always.
