Obituary of Lyle Leo WUNDERLICH

January 3, 1956 – Cudworth, Saskatchewan
November 13, 2019 - Okotoks, Alberta

Lyle Wunderlich, beloved husband of Joyce Wunderlich (nee Tratch) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the age of 63 years.

Lyle was born in Cudworth, SK on January 3, 1956. He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce in 1980. Lyle took over Alpine Drywall Calgary along with his brothers in 1986, working as a manager and in the mid-1990’s he became the President and sole owner of the Calgary branch.  Lyle was a kind, energetic, loyal and humble man.  It was through countless hours of hard work and determination that Lyle built a legacy.  He was proud of the team within his company, many co-workers and employees working alongside him for well over thirty years. It’s a true testament to the kind of man Lyle was, not just an employer but a true friend who was always there to help anyone in his path, a truly generous soul.  The accomplishments achieved earned him and his company numerous awards of excellence for outstanding projects; he took great pride in all that he did.  He was a long-time member of the Northwest Wall & Ceiling Bureau, the Calgary Construction Association and the Alberta Wall and Ceiling Association, even serving on the Board of Directors in the early years.  He was also very active within the Alberta Apprenticeship program and believed strongly in the importance of strengthening the industry by advocating on behalf of the program, enrolling as many apprentices as possible into the trade that was near and dear to him all his life.  He was very well known throughout the construction industry and his contributions will never be forgotten. Lyle gained many long term friendships throughout the years and most recently enjoyed his travels with his wife Joyce and other members of the CCA to places that gave him so much joy and the opportunity to make memories with the great people he liked to surround himself with.  Lyle will forever be an example to all that had the privilege of knowing him – to work with humour, live life to the fullest and give all that you can in all that you do.

Besides his loving wife, Lyle is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Jason Darrow) of Calgary, AB; two sons Karl Wunderlich (Amber) of Okotoks, AB, Kurt Wunderlich (April) of Calgary, AB; six grandchildren, Emma, Logan, Charlotte, Grace, Freyja, and Madison.  Lyle is also survived by his sister Bernice Saxinger of Saskatoon, AB; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerry Wunderlich (Carol) of Spruce Grove, AB Roy (Molly) of Kelowna BC, Dale Wunderlich (Catherine) of Edmonton, AB, Neil Wunderlich (Louise) of Edmonton, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lyle was predeceased by his parents Helen and Aloys Wunderlich; and his brother-in-law Walter Saxinger.
