Edna SVEINSON

Obituary of Edna Anne SVEINSON

May 14, 1936 – November 24, 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Sveinson on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Agape Hospice in Calgary.

Edna was born at Innisfail, AB on May 14, 1936 to her parents Blanche and Clarence Holt, and raised to the age of  fifteen on the family farm at Knee Hill Valley, AB.  Edna started school at age five years and rode horseback along with her brother Stan and her sister Ethel to the one room Knee Hill Valley school.  Edna went on to attend Red Deer Composite High School, graduating with distinction in May 1953. Edna married her high school sweetheart, Keith, on December 7, 1957 and their permanent residence became Calgary where they raised their three children.  They have been strong and loving influences in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were one of Edna’s greatest joys and her dining room table was always a work of art. When Edna became an empty nester, she rejoined the workforce in 1986, and served as personal secretary to senior officers of Sovereign General Insurance Company until her retirement in 1995. Edna and Keith had an active social life together with many circles of close friends.  Edna gave back to her community, readily volunteering for worthy causes such as Heart and Stroke Foundation, Daffodil Day, Calgary Meals on Wheels, and Canadian Diabetes Association.

Edna is lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 62 years, Keith; children Bryan (Sandra), Jill (Murray dec.), and John (Jody); and grandchildren Dana, Stefan, Rachel, Colton, and Taneson.

Our family wishes to extend a special thank you to Agape Hospice for the loving care and support given to Edna during her time there.  The genuine care and concern of these special people made an everlasting impact on our entire family.
