Obituary of Donald Campbell GUTHRIE

December 5, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Guthrie, Donald Campbell, beloved husband of Patricia Ann (Nee Donald), passed away on Thursday, December 5th, 2019, many months after an accidental fall.

Don was born in Sarnia, Ontario on July 15, 1927 to Mary Frances and Archibald Guthrie. Don and Pat married in Petrolia, ON, in 1950 and moved to Calgary in June of 1951.

Don graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Geology (Hon.). He was the first member of his family to go to university. Don started his career in the petroleum industry as a scout for Pacific Petroleum in 1951, before joining Amoco as a geologist for the rest of his career. He retired in 1986 after thirty-four years with Stanolind, Pan American, and Amoco as Exploration Systems Coordinator.
Don was an avid reader, golfer and was interested in history and genealogy. He enjoyed meeting and talking to people. He kept in touch with many work friends and made a number of new friends at Garrison Woods, where he lived with Pat for 10 years.

Besides Pat, his wife of 68 years, he will be remembered by his sons, Scott in Calgary and Ian (Dianna Colnett) in Comox; and daughter Diane (Mark Jeffers) in Victoria.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held at Garrison Woods Manor Village (2400 Sorrel Mews SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m in the Theatre Room.
