Obituary of Mabel Elizabeth CAHILL (nee Whyte)

December 14, 1932 – Saint-Bernard- de-Lacolle, Quebec
December 6, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Our Mom, Mabel Elizabeth Cahill, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Friday, December 6, 2019 after a short illness, and we will miss her so much.

Mabel was born in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, QC, and was raised on the family farm, and in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle. She excelled in school and so continued on to the big city of Montreal, where she had a successful thirty-two year, five month career at Bell Canada. Mabel was predeceased at too young an age by her first husband John, and her partner John Zipay, whom she also loved dearly. When John Zipay passed away, Mom, at the age of 76 decided to move west to be closer to her kids.

Mabel has left behind her girls, Illana (Mike), and Kathleen (Randy) of Calgary, AB; son Shawn (Julie) of Oyster River, BC, and her grandchildren, Nicholas (Tiffany), Quinn (Britta), Kelly (Paul), Megan; and great-grandchildren, Adara, Parker, William, and Sophie. 

At Mom’s request, there will be no service following cremation. Instead, the family will bring her home to the Hemmingford Cemetery where her ashes will be placed beside John Cahill in a private ceremony.
