December 6, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Freeborn Kee, on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the age of 85 years. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Norma Kee (nee Sproule) of Calgary, AB; his sons, Terry Kee of Canaan, NS, and Randy Kee (Sheryl) of Kentville, NS; his granddaughters, Lauren Kee and Emily Backman; brother Roger Kee (Eva) of Tacoma, Washington; sister Sandy Lariviere (Derrick) of Calgary, AB; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Norman Kee and Gertrude Wittmack, Gerry was predeceased by his first wife Marion Kee (nee Balsor) and his sister Penny Dreiling.

Gerry was born in Red Deer, AB, and began his working career alongside his locomotive engineer father, Norman, running steam engines across southern Alberta and BC. Gerry enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic for 25 years. He was stationed in both Comox, BC, and Greenwood, NS. Those who knew Gerry know he had a huge spirit and such a big personality. He was a consummate salesman throughout his life, even co-founding Down Home Realty in Nova Scotia in the 1980s.

As per Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or service. Family very much looks forward to his Celebration of Life, which is being planned for family and friends. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed on Gerry’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com. Donations may be made in Gerry’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Canada, www.alzheimer.ab.ca, or the charity of the donor’s choice. A tree will be planted in living memory of Gerry Kee.
