Obituary of Jane (Jean) Henderson Burt PURVES (nee Dawson)

December 9, 2019 – Cochrane, Alberta

Jean Purves beloved wife of the late James Purves, of Cochrane, AB, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the age of 102 years.

Jane was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, on January 18, 1917. She came to join her family in Alberta in 1982. Jean married her high school sweetheart James and went on to have two sons, Allan and Ronald.  Jean had an amazing skill for knitting and embroidery.  

She will be most remembered for her smile through everything, and crosswords, and code words.

Jean is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Val in Australia, daughter-in-law Pauline of Cochrane, two grandchildren, Wendy (John) and David (Pam); and six great-grandchildren, Shealyn, Luca, Brittany, Kevin, Trinity, and Austin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and especially her cherished friend, Helen. Jean was predeceased by her husband James, son Allan, and her brother Tommy.

The family would like to thank Bethany Cochrane for the love and care they have given Jean, and believe she couldn’t have had better care anywhere else. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at the Big Hill Lodge for the years that she lived there.
