Obituary of Ingeborg Brigitte ZEIDLER

October 25, 1938 – Lodz, Poland
December 14, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Ingeborg Zeidler of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Inge was born on October 25, 1938, in Lodz, Poland. She spent her childhood in Germany before her family emigrated to Canada in 1949. In 1950, they settled in Calgary, where she graduated from Crescent Heights High School. Inge excelled at athletics, especially long-distance running, which became her life-long passion. She completed her first marathon in 1985, and went on to race in locales such as Portland, Reykjavik, and Honolulu. Inge also completed two ultra-marathons. She was most proud of finishing the Boston Marathon in 1996. Before having a family, Inge worked as a medical transcriptionist. After her children were grown, she studied licensed practical nursing at Bow Valley College, and worked as an LPN until her retirement in 2006.                
    
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brigitte (Bradley) Clarke, son, Matthew Clarke, and former spouse, Barry Clarke. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Gates Zeidler, brothers, Udo Zeidler and Wolfgang (Ava) Zeidler; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Inge was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Lise Zeidler.
    
Inge’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Extendicare Cedars Villa - Poplar Unit, where she has been lovingly cared for since 2018.
