Obituary of Emiliano (Emil) Gajo MONTEMAYOR

June 30, 1952 – Urdenta, Philippines
December 11, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Emiliano Montemayor, beloved husband of Carmen Montemayor (nee Manuel) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the age of 67 years.

Emil was born in Urdenta, Philippines on June 30, 1952 to Federico and Felisa Montemayor. He immigrated to Canada in the 1970’s. He graduated from the Dagupan City School of Nursing with a degree in Nursing. Emil married Carmen on September 17, 1982. He accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of creating his own hydraulic mechanic business, known as the Hoist Guy. Emil had a passion for sports, cars and gardening, especially growing his own vegetables. He was part of the Filipino basketball league of Calgary as part of the Apache team, and was well-known for his 3-pointer hook shots. He will be most remembered for his sense of humour, compassion, intelligence, teasing, stories of his childhood in the Philippines and loving care for his family and extended family.

Besides his loving wife Carmen, Emil is survived by his children, Rachelle, Elisa, Erica, Roy, and James; three grandchildren, Albert, Bryson, and Chloe; Emil is also survived by his brother Jose, sisters, Eufemiana, Pas, Manuela, Proserfina, and Rose; and brother-in-law Eduardo Manuel. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederico and Felisa; and siblings, Mariano, Ely, Victoriano, and Dionisio.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
