Obituary of Virginia Mabel NORTHCOTT

Virginia Mabel Northcott of Calgary passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the age of 72 years.

Virginia was born in Banff, Alberta on July 6, 1947. She was raised in Siebee/Exshaw, AB in the Bow Valley and went to school in  Canmore and Banff, graduating from Banff High School with Honors. Virginia graduated from the University of Alberta, with a major in Biology and with the second highest marks of her class. She also spent time at the University of Vancouver doing lab work for her Bio major. She was a member of the Alberta Teachers Association, and a very successful and accomplished High School Science teacher. But most of all she was extremely proud of her sons, William and James.

Virginia enjoyed playing tennis, curling and golf. She also was an avid water skier and enjoyed any time out on the water with her family. She will be most remembered for her passion for music and her talent for playing her two favorite instruments, piano and guitar; she enjoyed singing and dancing as well. Her favorite type of music was Blues and she was a regular at the King Eddie.

Besides her loving boyfriend Kent Hansen, Virginia is survived by her two sons, William, and James; one daughter-in-law Selina (Wills Wife); and her granddaughter Leah, of Calgary, AB. Virginia is also survived by her one brother Michael Northcott of Edmonton, AB; his daughter Kathleen Northcott and Kathleen’s son Jay; Virginia’s great-niece Shaylyn, as well as numerous friends.

Virginia was predeceased by her mother Nancy Kreye and her nephew Christopher Northcott.

A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
