Obituary of John Martin BRUUN

April 3, 1958 – Waterville, Quebec

December 21, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

John Bruun, beloved husband of Mary Sandri, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the age of 61 years.

John was born in Waterville, QC, on April 3, 1958. He moved to Calgary, AB in 1978. John met Mary Sandri on December 17, 1999 and although they never married, they were together for 20 years. John accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his time in the rodeo with winning two belt buckles in 1988 and 1989. He was super proud of his six grandchildren. John had a passion for horses, motor bikes, RC cars and also his grand children. John’s most memorable vacation was when he went to Vancouver Island  in September of 2002 with Mary and his step son Scott. John’s favourite saying was “I’ll Decide”.

Besides his  loving wife Mary Sandri , John is survived by one daughter Jennifer Preston  and one son-in-law Royce Backlur; one step son Scott Garcia and one daughter-in-law Samantha Garcia and his six grandchildren, Zackary, Dominic, Hailee, Nova-lee, Maycee and Johlix.

John is also survived by one brother Steven Bruun and his mother Glady’s Bruun, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John was predeceased by his father Jack Bruun.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
