Obituary of Stanley Maurice HUNT

March 4, 1933 – Milk River, Alberta
December 31, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stanley Maurice Hunt, after spending his final day surrounded by his family expressing their deep love for him; he passed away peacefully in Hospice on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the age of 86 years.

Stan was born on March 4, 1933 in Milk River, AB.  From his early roots in southern Alberta, Stan led the family on their journey to St. Albert before retiring from AGT/Telus and settling with Joan in Calgary in 2001.  

Stan was a true renaissance man. He loved computer technology, photography, the outdoors, working in his garden and was a gifted handyman, well known as ‘the man who could fix anything’. He was extremely creative, teaching himself to play numerous instruments and was known to frequently break out in song for one and all.  One of his great joys was writing his book ‘Road to Miners Coulee’ which traced the history and journeys of the Hunt family.

At Stan’s core however was his faith in God and his love for his family and it was these two core beliefs that sustained him throughout his life and especially during recent times of declining health.
 
Stan leaves behind his wife and soul mate of sixty-seven years Joan; children, Terry (Mike), Joanne (Scott), Ron, Wendy (Barrie); and his cherished grandchildren, Sean (Kelsey), Rachel (Jason), Patrick (Kehna), Dylan (Bea), Mitchell (Kennedy), Tasha (Jody), Graham (Stacey) and his caring extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, brothers and granddaughter Kaitlyn.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.  Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Stan’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
