Condolences
Mexico will never be the same without John. The memories will always be there like our good times in Los Ayala with Tequila Willy. The time we took a motor boat, with no life jackets across the Bay of Banderas to Yelpa. Shopping in Playa del Carmen or making a deal on the beach in Buceras.
Both Sandy and I will deeply miss our dear travelling companion, sorry for your loss Donna.

Everyday I check this site to read a new posting, I am truly enjoying reading all the stories about my dad.
It brings a smile to our faces and some laughter, as dad did like to party and enjoy life to its fullest.
Thank you everyone.
Donna, Cheryl, Summer and Family,
We were very saddened to read about John's passing.
We have many fond memories of times spent together curling, bowling, golfing and of course playing cards and baseball! As well as all the great laughs we enjoyed whenever we got together throughout the years. Sorry, that we lost contact with you in recent years.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy.

Saddened to hear of John's passing and your loss Donna. Although I haven't seen John for many years I do remember him when we worked together at Floen & Sloane Appraisal company.
I'll never forget the time when he and I went out to Bragg Creek to do an appraisal and we had a couple of bottles of whiskey with us and drank them on the way back to Calgary. He soon brought me to my senses as he was driving his Pontiac Parisienne at a hundred miles an hour and I was scared stiff that we would both be killed. He took me home to my place that night in Charleswood and as I was too drunk to have supper and so he ate my supper for me. We had a good laugh the next Monday morning at the office reminiscing about our escapade. John was never one to keep quiet about things that bothered him, especially when he had arguments with Buehler ( deceased) over valuations. Although I never knew John's family my sincere condolences are with all of you. May you rest in peace, John

Donna:
I was very saddened to learn of John's passing. I knew him for more than four decades. We first met in the late seventies when we worked for the same fee appraisal firm. Soon after we discovered that we lived on adjoining streets, within a couple of hundred feet of each other and became quite good friends. John was very easy going and always a pleasure to be around. He was one of the "good guys". I know that you were very dedicated to him and that he was most fortunate to have you as his partner. My heartfelt condolences on your loss.
Regards,
Murray Dennis
I was deeply saddened to hear of John's passing. I can recall memories of standing at the end of the curling rink laughing at the greats shots we had made, and lamenting over the ones we missed. Then doing it all over again as we celebrated with a drink afterward. Thank-you John for your laughter, wit and wisdom. I know you will be missed.
I loved going over to my Aunty Donna’s and Uncle John’s for dinner. Uncle John loved to BBQ and he grilled the best meat!! Sharing those memories with him out on the deck was absolutely amazing and I will deeply miss those. Love you Uncle John xoxo ❤️❤️❤️
I am going to miss Uncle John and all the love he had. He helped introduce me to music when I was a child so everytime i hear songs from the 80s, my memories of him will be there.
When I visited 2 years ago, him and I went through his LP collection and he had stories for almost every album. He didn't think the turntable would work, but I got that system up and going and we spent a couple of hours just listening to records. That was a very special moment.
I love you Uncle John and thank you for the music.
Donna and family

Jim and I would like to send along our condolences to Donna and her family for the loss of John. He was truly a kind heart and and wonderful person to have known. We curled with him and Donna at the Calgary Curling Club and really enjoyed their company. We were so sorry to hear of his declining health and any suffering he endured. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
We are so very sad regarding my brother in laws passing. It was so hard to watch these past years John's struggle with Parkinson's and to see my sister Donna make each day count for John. We are truly blessed to have made so many wonderful memories with him. The many awesome trips to Calgary, Radium and to Mexico are forever in our hearts. The many laughs and fun times at Water Valley. Our memories will live on in you John.
All our love, Phyllis Lightfoot & Ray Ettenhofer
