Obituary of Robert Mitchell MARTIN

March 26, 1969 – Oromocto, New Brunswick

January 1, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Robert Martin beloved husband of Romela Martin (nee Barron) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at the age of 50 years.

Robert was born in Oromocto, NB, on March 26, 1969. He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1980. Robert graduated from SAIT with a degree in Survey. He married Romela Barron in 2008. Robert accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his children, Oliva and Alexandra. Robert enjoyed sports and had a love for the Montreal Canadians. His most memorable vacation was to the Philippines in 2018. Robert loved calling his daughter, nieces, and nephews,” squid or dork”.

Besides his loving wife Romela, Robert is survived by two daughters, Oliva of Calgary and Alexandra of Winnipeg; mother Dianna Pearce of Calgary; one sister Michelle Hersey and one brother-in-law Dan Lynn of Ottawa, ON;  two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Ruby,  Rowena and Nestor of the Philippines; as well as nieces, Kayla and Kacie of Calgary and Krizhamel of the Philippines; nephews, Adryann and Christian; uncles and aunts, Norma and Rick Arthurs of High River, and Robert and Judy Pearce of Edmonton; and mother-in-law Oliva Barron. Robert is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives and friends in both Canada and the Philippines.

Robert was predeceased by his father Donald Martin and grandparents; as well as his father-in-law Romeo Barron of the Philippines.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
