Obituary of Carmela “Maria” GAROFALO

June 20, 1936 - Pratola Serra, Avellino, Italy 

January 6, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Carmela Garofalo, Beloved wife of Mario Garofalo of Calgary, AB passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the age of 83 years.

Maria was born in Pratola Serra,  Avellino, Italy on June 20, 1936. She married the love of her life Mario on December 10, 1967. They then immigrated to Canada in 1968, first to Toronto and then to Calgary where they started their family and she spent the rest of her life.  

Besides her loving husband of fifty-two years Mario, Maria is survived by daughter Paula Novello (Joe), son Sergio Garofalo (Erin), and her five precious grandsons, Andrew, Lucas, Nathan, Reid and Seth; as well as numerous relatives and friends in Canada, Italy and the U.S.A.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street & Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 10, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.  Reception to follow at the Parish Hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to Calgary Health Trust at www.thetrust.ca. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Maria’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
