Obituary of Ewa Barbara CZARNOMSKA

November 16, 1945 – Opole, Poland

January 7, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Ewa  Czarnomska of Calgary, AB passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the age of 74 years.

Our mother was born in Opole, Poland in 1945 and grew up in post-war Poland. She attended Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland where she received her Masters of Biology degree, specializing in Anthropology. Eventually, Ewa did research for the University. Ewa moved to England where she met Zygmunt Czarnomski, her eventual husband. Zygmunt was an opera singer in London. They were married in 1974, eventually moving to Calgary where Zygmunt was employed in the oil patch. He passed away in 1988. This was a very difficult time for Ewa but she and her two sons soldiered on. Ewa was a devoted mother and was kind to everyone, no matter the situation.

Ewa is survived by her two sons, Tomasz and Roman Czarnomski.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church (321 – 90th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
