Obituary of John Francis GAFFNEY

July 13, 1965 – Lethbridge, Alberta

January 16, 2020 – Vancouver, British Columbia

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Francis Gaffney.  He passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at the age of 54 years.

John will always be remembered for his beautiful smile and his great sense of humour.

John will be dearly missed by his mother Charlotte Gaffney, siblings, Father Myles Gaffney of Pincher Creek, Maureen Gaffney of Vancouver and Michelle (Cameron) van der Linden of Calgary; nephews, Eero Gaffney and Joshua van der Linden; and niece Breanne van der Linden. He also leaves behind an enduring list of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. John was predeceased by his father Myles Gaffney Sr and brother Bernard Gaffney.

Our endless thanks to his sister Maureen for her unconditional love and for the wonderful care and compassion John received in Vancouver from posAbilities, all the staff at East 38th and Wendy Borelli and Claire Farrell.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Brebeuf Room, followed by the Graveside Service at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on John’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
