Obituary of Gail Charleen (nee Seibel) SIMPSON

December 26, 1944 – Rocky Mountain House, Alberta

January 20, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Gail Simpson on Monday January 20, 2020 at the age of 75 with her family by her side.

Gail was born in Rocky Mountain House, AB on December 26, 1944. Her family moved to Calgary, AB in May of 1956 for a better life. She was the forth oldest of six children. Gail was married in 1962 to James Simpson and they were long time residents of Cochrane, AB. This is when she discovered her love of child care and opened up her own Day Home. In 1994 Gail moved her and her two daughters and granddaughter back to Calgary where she continued her Day Home until her retirement in 2014 at the age of sixty-nine. Gail loved writing letters and began pen paling everyday up until her retirement.  She had over a hundred pen pals located all over the world. She also loved animals and would donate to The Calgary Humane Society on a monthly basis.

Gail is survived by her son and two daughters and daughters-in-law, Wesley (Lisa) Simpson, Rhonda (Hillary) Simpson, and Jeannie Simpson; and five grandchildren, Sean, Chantal, Chelsea, Stephen, and Colton. She is also survived by her siblings, Janet Heistad, Luallan Seibel, and Myrna Monette. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Wilbert and Mary Seibel; along with her sister Florine Ulrick and brother Wayne Seibel.

Gail’s strong will and kindness will always be cherished and greatly missed.

The family would like to thank Rosedale Hospice for all their generosity, warmth and kindness towards Gail during her final months with us.

Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS and HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
