Obituary of Erlinda Austria ESTEPA

May 16, 1939 – Baguio City, Philippines

January 24, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

At 80 years old, Erlinda Austria Estepa, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Erlinda was born in Baguio City, Philippines, on May 16, 1939, the fourth of nine siblings. She was a certified public accountant, a professor who co-authored the accounting syllabus at University of Cordillera, and served as the assistant city assessor of Baguio City, as well as the provincial assessor of Benguet. In 1958 she met the love of her life Jose Rillera Estepa, who she then married on January 2, 1966. Together, they immigrated to Calgary, AB in 2013. An inspiration of beauty and grace, she was a “Miss Valentine’s” pageant queen, a hard worker, and a devout Catholic. Erlinda was a joyful and loving woman who was always ready to serve a meal. She cared for others with her whole heart and touched many people’s lives.

Erlinda will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jose Estepa, and children, Michelle Pabia (Frederick), Jay Michael Estepa (Geraldine), John Estepa (Marie “Lele”), Joylyn Estrella (Rizaldy), and Joe Mark Estepa (Fidelis); She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Max Pabia, Jamie Estepa, Mica Pabia, Joshua Estepa, Zedric James Estrella, and Darren Marco Estepa; and siblings, Remedios Cruz, Lolita Abastilla, Anastacio Austria Jr. (Lily), Evelyn Molina, Arlene Molina (Fred), Virgilio Austria (Carmen Sofia), and Emolyn Cruz. Erlinda was predeceased by her sister Lourdes Austria, brothers-in-law, Elad, Leon, Art, and Charlie.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of The Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. with Prayers and Tributes starting at 4:30 p.m., followed by a Reception.
