Condolences
I was so very fortunate to be Carol’s sister because she had such a profound impact on my life. I was born on her 15th birthday which was indeed the beginning of a special bond we shared. Carol was both a wonderful sister and a wonderful friend. She was fascinated and extremely knowledgeable about US politics and was never shy about sharing her opinions so I gained a new appreciation for political issues. I am truly blessed that she also shared her passion for jazz and she had a large collection of records stored on the floor in the closet – Billy Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker - the truly classic jazz artists and definitely not the improvisational artists. Carol loved reading whether it was novels, the newspaper or magazines and indeed this passion remained with her into her later years. Carol loved her job and talked a great deal about her colleagues - I know she made tremendous contributions to her profession. Another one of her strengths was her appreciation for getting a good education and she always supported my determination to attain graduate degrees – in turn I was so proud of her when she registered in courses toward her Bachelor of Arts degree while she continued to work at her job in AADAC. Carol’s favorite place to visit was Vancouver because she loved swimming in the ocean - Jim and I had an opportunity to visit this lovely city with her and we made terrific memories. Jim and I sat on the beach holding the towels while she braved the cold water and had a great time. We also went on a trip to Halifax where she was born and had the most amazing return to so many special places where she spent time as a child – it was truly a meaningful and wonderful trip for all of us.
Carol and I had a very special relationship which had a major impact on my life and her spirit will remain with me forever. I know that she is in heaven playing bridge, listening to jazz and having lively political discussions.
