Obituary of Margaret LEGG (nee Nettleton)

Margaret Legg, beloved wife of John Preston (Peter) Legg of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the age of 89 years.

Margaret was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England on January 14, 1931. Margaret and Peter were married in 1952 and immigrated to Canada in 1992, settling in Peachland, BC. Margaret accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her work as a Civil Servant in England. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and listening to music.  In her earlier life she enjoyed tennis and world travel with her family and friends. Margaret loved gardening, which she got a love of from her father.  She especially enjoyed her roses which she had imported from England to wherever she was living, in one of the many countries they lived in Africa. She was a true Yorkshire Rose. Margaret’s most memorable vacation was all of them.  She was lucky to visit most of the world with her loving husband and often her children.  She loved educating her children on the history of each country they visited. She will be most remembered for story telling of her life experiences, especially to her grandson Peter.

Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Ronald St. Godard of Calgary, AB; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Aine (Murray) of Dublin, Ireland and Jonathan and Pamela (Sobey) of Kelowna, BC; and grandson Peter of Calgary, AB. Margaret is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joan (Watson) of Kent, England.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband, John Preston (Peter), her parents, Percy and Elsie Nettleton; and brothers-in-law Anthony (Tony) and Brian Legg.
