Obituary of Batista Danilo FRANZON

October 31, 1952 - Zoppola, Italy

January 29, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Batista Franzon, beloved husband of Laura Franzon (nee Sharlow) of Calgary, AB, passed away at Southwood Hospice in Calgary on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at the age of 67 years, surrounded by his family.

Batista was born in Zoppola, Italy on October 31, 1952. In 1957 he moved with his Mom (Maria) and two brothers GianCarlo and Natalino to Canada to be with his Dad, Enrico Franzon.

Batista was a member of the Calgary Heritage Lions Club, and held various positions for Alberta Processing/ West Coast Reduction, Italian Bakery, Hertz, and the Calgary Stampede.

Batista accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for making wine, and beef jerky and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, curling, volunteering, and spending time with family and friends.

Besides his loving wife Laura, Batista is survived by his three daughters, Lindsay Sasseville (Chris) of Regina, SK, Amanda Franzon (Robert Faherty) of Calgary, AB, and Ashley Romeo (John) of Water Valley, AB; and nine grandchildren, Jill, Zoe, John, Brooklynn, Mckayla, Abriana, Trevor, Nathanial, and Marissa. He is also survived by his mother Maria Franzon, of Calgary, AB, brothers, GianCarlo Franzon of Calgary, AB, Natalino Franzon (Donna) of Sundre AB, and Dennis Franzon (Leslie) of Calgary, AB; sister Doris Barbieri (Gianni) of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Father Enrico Franzon predeceased Batista.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.  Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
