Obituary of Genowefa “Jean” LAZOWSKI,
November 9, 1922 – Kakonin, Poland
January 30, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
Genowefa Lazowski of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the age of 97 years.
Born in Kakonin, Poland on November 9, 1922, as a young girl Genowefa survived an enemy work camp during the Second World War. After being liberated, she immigrated to Canada in 1948 where she would meet her future husband Eddie. In addition to raising their four children, she was a longtime member of the “SPK” Polish Combatants Association No. 18 and spent many hours volunteering with her church. She loved music and dancing, watching old movies, enjoying the outdoors with family and friends and tending to her apple trees and beautiful rose garden. Kind and hardworking, she was truly a force to be reckoned with. Genowefa will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed, but it brings comfort to know that she has been reunited with many loved ones in heaven.
She leaves behind three children, Christina (Doug) Jarvis of Iroquois, Ontario, Richard (Norma) Lazowski of Edmonton and Julie (Murray) McEwen of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Erin, Sarah, Christopher, Jessica, Michael, Sean, and Jack; and four great-grandchildren, Elsie, Naomi, Mathis and Emelia.
Genowefa was predeceased by Edward, her loving husband of forty-five years and their daughter Eileen.
