Condolences
There will always be a special place in my heart for Jean Young. Jean taught me Grade One in Gadsby. She was a wonderful, warm-hearted gracious lady and an excellent teacher. My condolences go out to Ella May, Aleta and their families.
Another friend to visit in the Omega Circle cemetery ...
Jean Margaret Young was 95 when she passed away peacefully - she lived through nine decades (over 3 billion seconds!) and had stories to tell. Her stories of the past were described in such vivid detail you could imaged it happened yesterday.
My most memorable moments with Grandma were the road trips to the mountains, around Red Deer and a more recent special valentine delivery to the lab. Our frequent outings for breakfast were shared with stories and laughter too.
Grandma always seemed to have her pulse on technology. For her 80th birthday the grandkids purchased her a new computer so she could keep up with her emails. When I called a week or two later to see how she was managing she told me she had been to the store to get a RAM upgrade. Wow – grandma was pretty awesome!
She was special in every sense of the word. It didn’t take much to make her happy—a phone call, a card, a visit, or a hug before saying good night.
Grandma - thank you for your wisdom, humor, compassion, patience and your love. You will be missed.
God Speed.

I met Jean and Frank through Eastern Star. Your aunt, Marilyn Sales, belonged to our Chapter, Chinook #133 in Calgary. When she passed away I was Worthy Matron and dedicated a pin to the Chapter in her memory. Your Dad was Grand Representative at the same time as I and had great fun with them both. Jean was a wonderful lady; I always admired her positive outlook on life and of course her smile and wonderful sense of humour.

Jean was a very special mother-in-law. She and Frank played a large part in our family lives early in our marriage and they both bonded well with their grandchildren, and were loved by them, a tie that still remains.
Jean loved teaching, and was well respected, judging by the number of former students who spoke highly of her and who remembered her well into her 90’s. Her precise penmanship was an art form in itself. Her organizational skills were amazing – every task either done or on a to-do list.
Jean was always the willing pianist in getting the Christmas carols going or help out with a New Year’s Eve party sing along. We admired her life-long dedication to the Eastern Star. She was a snappy dresser and we always kidded her about her shopping habits, and all the ladies shop flyers that kept Canada Post in business.
But her mental clarity through all of her life was a gift. She remained focused and was a great conversationalist throughout her later life, always enjoying a great sense of humour.
She loved, and was proud of her family, and most especially her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
GG could do no wrong with them and they admired how old yet vital she was.
Jean will be missed by all but not forgotten. Her smiling face and spirit will remain with us.
